Meet at the bottom of the hill, shown here on Google Maps. Be warmed up and ready to go at 9:30 am.
If
you're interested in doing a group skate before and after the event as
in the past, send an email to let us know and we can arrange it the
week before.
The event consists of two
races up Torrey Pines (1.4 miles, ~400 foot ascent), the first a
straight time trial and the second a handicapped race with start times
staggered based on the results of the time trial. We crown a King and
Queen of the hill, a
winner of the handicapped race and sandbagger award of shame for the
person with the biggest difference between the time trial time and
handicapped race time.
Bicycles
are welcome to join the event to compete and help skaters brake down the hill if desired.
This is an
"unofficial" and unsupported
open event and there is no entry fee. Please respond to sdse@sk8.org so we don't miss anyone at the start.
But wait, here's something new - Raffle Prizes! Pretty cool for a FREE race!
The following items are to be raffled off after the event amongst all participants (not just attendees...):
1 set of 100mm or 110mm G4 Bont wheels (donated by Glenn Koshi)
1 set of EzeeFit skate gloves (EzeeFit products are supplied by SDSE through Glenn)
1
pair of EzeeFit skate shorts (note: There are no remaining size Large
shorts. If the winner of the shorts would need a size Large, a
set of EzeeFit skate gloves will be awarded instead.)
Past results: Spring 2008, Fall 2008

is said to be a 5.5% grade 400 ft climb over 1.4 miles.
It
starts at the beginning of bike lane at the bottom and ends at the sign
and flashing light at the top.
