Torrey Pines Hill Climb
Time Trial and Handicap Race

Sunday, October 30, 2011
Start Time:  10:00 AM
Meet at the bottom of the hill, shown here on Google Maps.  Be warmed up and ready to go at 10:00 am.
(In other words arrive at 9:00 if you want an hour to get the skates on, warm up, stretch, visit the bathroom, rotate your wheels, etc.)

The event consists of two races up Torrey Pines (1.4 miles, ~400 foot ascent), the first a straight time trial and the second a handicapped race with start times staggered based on the results of the time trial. We crown a King and Queen of the hill, a winner of the handicapped race and sandbagger award of shame for the person with the biggest difference between the time trial time and handicapped race time.

Bicycles are welcome to join the event to compete and help skaters brake down the hill if desired.

After the race we will talley the results and have a little celebration at La Jolla Shores (Kellogg Park Parking Lot, Camino Del Oro, La Jolla), including a light brunch which will be provided. Bring lawn/beach chairs or blankets and, if you might like to swim in the ocean, your swimming attire.  There is a shower too.  You are very welcome to bring family for the celebration.

RSVP will be VERY helpful in order to have the right amount food for the post-race celebration and to prepare the race sheets in advance for recording results. Let us know if you are biking or skating, if you are not starting at the meet point but joining at the base of Torrey Pines, and if you are bringing family to the celebration.  This is an "unofficial" and unsupported open event and there is no entry fee.  Please respond to sdse@sk8.org so we don't miss anyone at the start.

Past results:   Spring 2008, Fall 2008, Spring 2009, Fall 2009, Spring 2010, Fall 2010, Spring 2011
